András Benedek, PhD, CSc, works as senior research fellow of the Research Centre for the Humanities, Hungarian Academy of Science in the field of Learning Sciences and Dynamic Epistemic Logic. His research topics include modeling changes of the conception of knowledge, and interpretations of information and their application. He is former director of e-Didactic Knowledge Center, chief science advisor of LSI Information Technology Learning Center. A post doctoral research fellow at The Queen’s College, Oxford, university scholar at the University of Notre Dame (Indiana), research fellow at CUA (Washington, D.C.) and UIC. As former head of the Department of Logic, Pázmány Péter Catholic University, he directed Program Development at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences. He was responsible for EU projects as international advisor of APERTUS Public Foundation, and for e-content and program development, as director of education of EDUWEB PLC. In the field of Epistemic and Probability Logic his research is focused on Dynamic Logic and modeling the growth of knowledge in Learning Networks. Having a second MSc. degree in physics, he worked on the foundations of Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics, and in the field of philosophy of science on the 19th-20th century history of mathematical heuristics. Participated in the European Commission Observatories, “FILTER-economic filtering of knowledge” project addressing issues of selection of information, in the “Communication of 21st century” T-mobile–MTA joint project, in the ‘Uniworld”, and “ Hungarian Virtual Encyclopedia”, in the “Reception and Creativity: Open Hungarian Culture” and OTKA Hungarian Research Fund projects. He won higher education textbook projects, e.g., with the “e-Text Culture” CD-ROM, and as a HUNGARNET representative took part in the popularization and development of digital culture from its very beginnings.
