IMAGINE A DAY OF LISTENING

DailyGood: National Day of Listening
"The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention... A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words."
--Rachel Naomi Remen

Hello Jonathan,
That quote from the site you referred to is something I learned first hand and by accident (maybe some kind of instinct.)
I used to operate a group home and one night I had trouble sleeping so went down to the kitchen to get something to drink.
There was a resident already there and I sat at the table expecting some idle chat for a bit then back to bed.
At some point she asked my advice about a problem and began elaborating on it.
About an hour later she got up to go to bed and thanked me for all the good advice I had given her to solve the problem - thing is, I hardly said a word the whole time, just listened as she resolved it herself in the process of verbalizing it.
That was a lesson I have kept in mind ever since.

Indeed it is the only thing which ever has."
