Deepak Chopra in "The Book of Secrets" explains we are all multi-dimensional. Where we place our attention [ego or spirit] is the reality we will ultimately create.

As well, our own nerves system is connected into the cosmic circuit board. By paying attention to a dimension of life, we therefore send a current of consciousness into that dimension of life. If you pay no attention, [place your awareness elsewhere], will cause a dimension to atrophy.
