HOMES NEEDED: ICELANDIC SHEEP

I am writing to see if anyone out there might be interested in and capable of giving homes to a few Icelandic sheep.

Through the death of a relative, we have an 80-acre farm in NW Missouri, and a small flock of Icelandic sheep, none of which we can keep. The farm is for sale, and we want to find homes for the sheep where they will be treated humanely and kept for their wool.

We have about a dozen rams, two dozen ewes and a couple of lambs. Many of them are very friendly and sweet, and their wool, when sheared, is beautiful. Some are black, some brown, some brown and white, some white.

We cannot maintain these sheep and do not want to take them to a livestock sale barn. Our hope is that someone(s) who work(s) with wool will be able to take them and care for them properly.

They seem to be in good health. They live mostly in pasture, and have not been given hormones or growth stimulants. They have been treated for worms, as a precaution.

We have some pictures and are working on getting them online. More pictures can be taken. If anyone out there is able to provide a good home to any or all of these sheep, we would be delighted. We will give them away, as long as we feel good about the recipients. We can probably arrange to deliver the sheep as well, if necessary.

Thank you,
