Namaste Jonathan,

The basis of our freedom is our relationship with the System of Life to which we are born by virtue of our human birth. Since we are not the products of our systems that we develop on the basis of our reasoning any deviation from this sacred relationship will breed unhealthy expression of the human mind. This can be seen all over the world- in countries that control life on the basis of theologies/ideologies or fancy.

If religions mean the promotion of spirituality they should teach right living in relationship with the System which some called the Truth. Prophet Mohammad and Jesus never demanded that faith should be the basis of life. Still religions known after them promote parochial faiths as the basis of spirituality. This really promotes ignorance because the basis of knowledge for the management of life is the System, not the systems that we develop at some point of time. This is where most religions fail in their very purpose, i.e. the promotion of spirituality. Spirituality can be had only by regaining our relationship with the System. That was what Jesus and Mohammad demanded. In Hinduism it comes as the expression of the mind projected in the major Upanishads.

"The truth cures our diseases and redeems us from perdition; the truth strengthens us in life and in death; the truth alone can conquer the evils of error. Truth knows neither birth nor death; it has no beginning and no end. Welcome the truth. The truth is the immortal part of mind. The truth is a living power for good, indestructible and invincible! Work the truth out in your mind, and spread it among mankind, for truth alone is the savior from evil and misery. The Buddha has found the truth and the truth has been proclaimed by the Buddha! Blessed be the Buddha!" (Gospel of Buddha)
