Ultimate forgiveness comes when ultimate forgiveness is given. It is a two way street, however. To ask for, and fully receive, the forgiveness that is waiting to be given to you, you must also, and equally, want to forgive everyone and everything.

Most of us forgive. Most of us want to forgive most things. But everything? Those few, pesky thorns that are still left over in your life. Have you asked yourself why they are still there after all the forgiving you have already done?

Have you asked your Maker why they are still there?

Get to know the reasoning behind every situation in your life, even the most painful ones, and you will find a Gift. You will find Gratitude for each and every person, even the ones who hurt you.

Many people still confuse forgiveness with approving a wrongful act. Not so. You are never responsible for another person’s actions or intentions, just as they are never responsible for yours. That is between each individual, and his/her Creator. That is our first, and ultimately, only contract.

Forgiveness doesn’t always look the same, even if it feels like a release of weight for both parties. As often as two enemies can be made friends through forgiveness, is as often as an abused party’s forgiveness takes the form of no longer seeing an abusing party.

Forgiveness takes all forms on the outside, but it is always the same on the inside. It is always a release of weight for both parties. Sometimes forgiveness only comes from one party, and that is ok too. Your release will aid the other person’s release, when they are ready to do so.

Sometimes we forgive someone else, but we don’t forgive ourselves. That is just as harmful. We must be willing to forgive ourselves in equal measure to our willingness to forgive others. Otherwise, the forgiveness will be lop-side and unbalanced. We are all One.

Let’s understand that we are not only healing ourselves, but healing each other. In healing ourselves, we heal each other. In healing each other, we heal ourselves. This is the message of Christ.
