WAYS WOMEN LEAD NEWSLETTER, February 2012 Dear Friends of Ways Women Lead, Once again the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women is upon us. As UN Women continues to consolidate, we and many sister organizations continue to promote circle process and a Fifth World Conference on Women. It is clear at every level, from the way we relate to one another locally to the most visible global assemblies of women that something new is required, and that circle and a Fifth World Conference are part of that newness (see our article on women gathering at the UN to be published in Gather the Women's next Newsletter). As the assembly of initiatives and organizations that we have become, we write to share our Calendar of Events at the UN CSW 2012, and to ask for your support and participation in building a field of collaboration for our time together in New York ... GLOBAL CALL Please join us Sunday, February 26, for 5 minutes of prayerful silence On the eve of the opening of the 56th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, women of all spiritual traditions are invited to join in prayer and silence for the good of all – wherever they are and at any time that day. Women of all spiritual traditions are invited to hold in their hearts the hopes of those who come to the CSW: for homes and a world without violence and fear, where there will be good food, air and water, education and medical care, for women’s empowerment and gender equality, for consciousness, voice and choice, for circles with a sacred center to support the wisdom and courage of women in them, and for there to be a UN 5th World Conference on Women. COLLABORATION ONLINE We are anchoring interactive collaboration online at LightPages' UN Women's Circles Connecting, and spreading the word on Facebook's UN Women's Circles. Please join the wave into deeper partnership and/or wider visibility for women's circle process at the United Nations, and a Fifth World Conference on Women.
