October 18, 2009

Dear Vessels of Peace Community,

Happy 7th Anniversary! And Happy Birthday too - for on October 19th, Vessels of Peace begins a new seven-year cycle with a new direction – one that will bring, next year, an actual location from which to anchor and offer our service!

Before you read on about that, please note that we have sprinkled a number of quotes by the beloved Sufi mystic Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee throughout the newsletter. They are from his new book, The Return of the Feminine and the World Soul, which we highly recommend. http://www.workingwithoneness.org/feminine_book.html

Ancient Tradition, New Paradigm:

A Home for Vessels of Peace

“She can awaken us … to an ancient memory coming alive in a new way.”

When the Core Circle came back from Canada and our visit to Soul of the Mother in May, we sensed that Vessels of Peace, as we have known it, was complete - that a new form for this work was emerging in our collective awareness as a result of this journey. We had been shown – and experienced - Vessels of Peace as both an ancient tradition and a new paradigm. We learned that its energetic signature, or frequency, was seeded in ancient times, with the intention that its fruits be harvested and shared in these times.

“Feminine spiritual consciousness can reawaken the world to its sacred nature as a living being, and so help it to heal and transform.”

We have spent the summer taking this all in, being with it, integrating it … a humbling and exciting process, to be sure! During this time, Wende Bartley and Lynda Terry were welcomed into the Core Circle, and also during this time, it was confirmed that the new form of the work emerging required a physical location … a serene and healing space, on sacred ground, where women can come to deepen their practice of the feminine path and deepen their commitment and capacity to serve.

Co-creating and nurturing this place, to be called Sweet Waters Sanctuary, will be our primary focus in 2010, along with re-visioning and evolving Vessels of Peace practices and services to align with this new focus.

“… the transition or transformation that is needed … does not have to happen on the level of mass collective consciousness … changes have always started just within small groups…”

A small group of women will reside full-time at the sanctuary, and others (hopefully, many of you!) will come for periods of retreat, learning, and service.  Core circle members Laurel Boyd and Lynda Terry (along with their partners) will be the first full-time residents of Sweet Waters Sanctuary, and we feel that there will be others from the greater Vessels of Peace community who will feel called to join with them in this commitment. (If your heart is feeling this call, please email your name and phone number to vesselsofpeace@vesselsofpeace.com so that Lynda or Laurel can contact you). The other core circle members, while not living at the sanctuary, will be very involved - and be present there at various times to collaborate in programs or service offered.

So where, you may be asking, will this wonderful oasis of peace for women be located? Read on …

Where the Rivers Become One

“Indigenous cultures recognize water as sacred, and see the joining of multiple rivers into a convergence point as creating holy ground.”

                                                          - Vikki Hanchin (see article link below)

For some months now, we have been asking to be shown where this physical “heart base” for the Vessels of Peace work is to be. Several regions in the U.S. came forth as possibilities, but by mid-September, a stream of rather extraordinary information about one particular area made it stand out from all the rest. After sitting in prayer and sacred listening with this information, as well as conferring with Soul of the Mother, who have provided loving counsel during this process, we feel we have our answer:

Vessels of Peace will be establishing Sweet Waters Sanctuary somewhere near the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - a place where three rivers become four and thus, One … a place that indigenous elders from around the world say is destined to become a center for spiritual transformation and healing.

As you might be surmising, water plays an important role in both the location for the sanctuary and in the way our work as vessels of peace is evolving. In January, we will share more about this. For now, however, you can learn more about Pittsburgh’s spiritual destiny and the significance of the rivers by reading the article, “Confluence of Miracles” by Pittsburgh resident and new Vessels of Peace member Victoria “Vikki” Hanchin:

We’d Love Your Help!

We are clear that manifesting Sweet Waters Sanctuary is a “divine assignment,” so we have faith that all we need to manifest this physical place will be provided. But we also know that part of how it will manifest is through the inspired participation and support of the Vessels of Peace community. We need and welcome your support and participation in a variety of ways, from holding space for us to find the right and perfect property … to contributing funds and/or other resources needed to establish and operate the sanctuary … to coming to reside, be on retreat, study, or offer service at the sanctuary … to collaborate with us in carrying forward this work.

So, if this new direction for Vessels of Peace calls to your heart, please email us at vesselsofpeace@vesselofpeace.com and share with us what you are feeling, what questions you have, and how you are called to participate.

A Sacred Pause

For the next few weeks, the Core Circle is taking a “sacred pause,” as we turn within to nurture ourselves and be present to all that is gestating within for Vessels of Peace. There may not be a newsletter during this time, but we will post, as needed, information on the LightPages bulletin board, that you also receive via email. However, we do still want to hear from you, so please email us your thoughts, questions, interest, sharings, to: vesselsofpeace@vesselsofpeace.com
