I have been involved for the past thirty years in Circles, designing, conducting, training facilitators in leadership programs around the world that empower women to start a women's circle and to transforming their hierarchical organizations into a circle. I have designed and facilitated many international and national circle events along with the production of magazine, books and other resources that bring women together for mutual empowerment as equals in circle. I attended both Gather The Women events because of their vision to bring women together from all walks of life together. I am a strong believer in grassroots mobilizing for making a positive difference. Carol Hansen Grey, Rhonda Hull and I have given birth to Circle Connections Inc, the place where women can get hands on help in starting circles and transforming their organizations and businesses into circles. Members will be given a host of opportunities to participate in retreats, playshops, teleconferences, share the circle stories and connect with other circles. They will learn how to facilitate circles and mentor others in starting and nurturing circles. Please visit our website and become a member. Your leadership and creativity are wanted. www.circleconnections.org. Namaste!!! Ann Smith Circle Connections Inc www.circleconnections.net

I'm a woman, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a community member, an activist, a feminist, a woman who loves to dance, to speak Spanish, to eat in outdoor cafes, to drink good coffee, to spend time with men if they are funny and like women as people, to write, to gather with women. I believe that women will change the world and I intend to do my part!

I spent many years educating myself and learning as much as I could across many disciplines, including the world of Silicon Valley. At 45 I joined the Peace Corps and spent the next 5 years in Malawi and South Africa. It was a life-changing experience for my own personal growth and the relationships I fused forever. At 52 I married for the first time and my focus became to do the one thing I had never done - be in relationship til death do us part, or so we say ! I just turned 58 and confirmed that I need circles of women to nourish that which feeds me, connecting with people all around the world, making a difference, educating and supporting others on their journey, giving and receiving love - the latter often the most difficult to realize !

CLARE PETERSON…a glimpse I am 65 and live on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. I have been married to my husband Bruce for 38 years. Both of us are retired yet in some ways, I feel more focused and engaged in my real ‘work’ than at any other time in my life. The choice of leaving traditional nursing in 1986 to co-create one of the first Wellness Centres in B.C. changed my life forever. It was a very real experience of stepping out from an old hierarchical system into circles of equality, co-creation, discovery and possibilities. This template of holism has been helpful to move from the health field into a kind of political- spiritual activism with other women locally and globally. How delightful and natural it is that we are coming together at this time...to help make visible the power, wisdom and freedom of the feminine in bringing balance into our communities and world affairs. Over the years I have learned it is a good thing… • to be open and to follow my intuition. • to seek, invite and join other like minded pilgrims. • to have courage and to allow vulnerability. • to trust life and be responsible for myself as best as I can. • to stay curious and say YES, even when it may be scary. • to expect and notice signals and signposts along the way. • to be grateful and recently …to never to work alone! VALUED RELATIONSHIPS: Core membership Gather the Women Canada; Gather the Women Global Matrix; Millionth Circle Conveyor and founding member of The Buddy’s Group. Present focus for 2009 is completing a book called “From Grid to Grail…Releasing the Feminine into the World”. I am feeling very grateful for coming into this new classroom with you all… lightly and with love, Clare

Woman of the earth. Heart bursting with love for all things, unable to absorb the density of beauty we witness living on this, “garden island in space."(1) Convinced, " we will save what we love." (2) Full of faith that things can change if we simply change our minds, decide the corner office and a Mercedes isn't all it's cracked up to be, in fact it might just be a big fat lie. That simpler living means that human beings not political systems can figure out ways to feed everyone, since after all the cornucopia has plenty. Unable to comprehend how cutting down forests in football field sized swaths every second and oceans so filthy that swimming is unsafe for humanity much less capable of supporting life couldn't cry out for the dominating species of this planet to take responsibility for the burden of consumption it places on the rest of all that lives. Recognizing that the hand wrapped around a rifle or clenched in a fist could just as easily plant a tree, wipe away a tear or hold another’s hand. I love to hike, spend time out doors, watch the sun rise or set, walk along the sea, meditate, write, read, spend time with my dogs, and much more. 1. Bolen, Urgent Message from Mother 2. Growing up in my very own circle of women (my mother and 3 female siblings) I learned early on, the power that comes from having sisters to go through life with. After the untimely death of my mother, I found myself on an accelerated spiritual path towards a consciousness lifestyle. Living in the image driven city of Los Angeles brought me to a deeper awareness of my own struggles with self-esteem and self-acceptance. After much introspection, I resolved to change the idealistic perception of women by creating a magazine that dealt with women’s issues from a real and empowering perspective. From that magazine came a movement to gather women and now I am here to gather with the gatherers. Let us Gather the Women and Save the World!

I live in Rapid City, SD. I've been retired from the school system for 4 years where I worked as a school counselor, a rich and rewarding career. Now my path is leading me in the direction of becoming a peacemaker. I seem to be pulled or pushed along this path in spite of myself. I just finished a week long intensive workshop in Nonviolent Communication which was very transformative and very powerful. I am a mediator for Restorative Justice, a Zen practitioner, and a traveller; I love to visit new countries and I love the journey into me, which is part of my Zen path. I am married to Ken and Max, our cocker, runs our life.
