CONVENING THE MOVEMENT

The Women's Network Consortium is being formed to explore ways that the new international women's movement can be self-convened and self-organized through an online survey or questionnaire process.

ONLINE LISTENING TOUR

What we are proposing could be understood as a kind of "listening tour" of the movement. Using our internet tools, we can "interview" women everywhere -- inquiring as to their interests, their passions, their vision, their commitments. As we gather this information into one place, and make it clearly visible and accessible, we believe the movement can be empowered and inspired.

We are bringing together a dedicated core of women leaders, who are strongly motivated to support and grow this movement, and who will each be able to offer a small amount of time each week to unfolding and refining our collective explorations.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

We are looking for a convenient and simple way to pull together the energies, insights and potentials of thousands or millions of women around the world, who are feeling a common call to a greater service.

Many of us share the instinct that the internet can be used to convene this process, and many internet projects have emerged that explore the potential of women's networking. Yet, despite high vision and high hopes, many of us continue to feel that the highest possibilities have not yet been realized.

It is simply true that people cannot handle large volumes of email. A network project that engages a large number of women has to be simple, easy to use, and quick. We're thinking that maybe a questionnaire-based interface is the best way to go.

"PULSE POLLING"

Through this Women's Network Consortium, we propose to explore the possibilities of a network project that is convened and maintained through a very brief and period "pulse poll", that asks a few simple questions, appearing in our email inboxes perhaps once a week -- in a format we can process and complete in less than five minutes a week.
