Intro/dream: Born and raised in India of loving American missionary parents, I had the opportunity to travel and be aware of other ways of thinking and believing than those in my own family. I began to question things young. Since graduating from high school there, have continued to choose to travel and work in many places of our world. Taught school for 40.5 years, students betw ages of 3 and adult (38 yrs w/ primary children), the last 2 w/ middle and high school), in 8 countries on 3 continents; have been devotedly married for nearly 34 years, with a grown son and daughter; have enjoyed being an active member of the Bahá'í Faith for nearly 42 years. One of the significant teachings of Bahá'u'lláh is the equality of women and men [like the two wings of one bird] and the crucial importance of educating both girls and boys; the world's first women's martyr was a lovely Persian poetess in the mid-1800s--when she was strangled, she declared: "You can kill me, but you cannot stop the emancipation of women!" Women's and girls' rights, especially in developing countries, has been a passion of mine for decades, ever since being strangely moved by Helen Reddy's "I am Woman" in the 1960s, and especially after learning about FGM in West Africa in the late 1970s. I am deeply happy about joining the "Standing Women" movement, and will spread the news to friends around the globe. May the Creator continue to inspire all who give love, service, and energy for the advancement of humanity!

Where standing: Good Evening, Just attended a lecture with Jean Shinoda Bolen and she told the audience all about you. I have not contacted all the women in our circle yet, but we will be outside on the beach either at English Bay or in North Vancouver. I am going to get as many as I can together and even though it is Mother's Day, many do not have children or not cherished by them so we should have a goodly number. Glad to have found you and thank-you for this. With many Blessings, Diane Michell
Intro/dream: My dream is that we will remember that we are all connected.
